The First Day

So I started my first college class in almost ten years today. I forgot what a friggen nightmare parking was. Thank goodness I remembered the secret place out by my old haunt, the Ag buliding. Lucky for me, my class is in the middle of campus so the walk wasn't too far.

I was surprised the class was so full. For a Japanese class in my po dunk hick town, it was completely full. Even more surprising, I didn't see any 'otaku'. Well, not that I've noticed yet, anyway. I believe there is one in the middle row, but we shall wait to see. I've heard horror stories about Japanese classes filled with goggle-eyed otaku who spout off stupid 'manganese' (comic book Japanese). Lord, I hope that doesn't happen in my class. I'll have to shove a pencil through my eye.

I did have an interesting experience with some kid in the back row. Heh heh, kid...I can say that now since I AM OLD! Anyway, he was jusst sitting there, head down, trying to look small. One of those kids you can just look at and know he was totally bullied and pumbled in highschool. We all had to go around to different people and introduce ourselves in Japanese. No one was even trying to talk to him, so I figured what the hell. I'm an adult and have long shed the social stigmas pressed on by highschool kids. So I went up and said hello.

That little fucker ignored me. I mean, he didn't even look up. Just kept sitting there while everyone else was standing. Ignored me like I wasn't even there. I bit back a nasty response, giving him the benefit of the doubt that he has some sort of raging social disorder. Hey, it never killed anyone to be nice to someone who needed it.

And on the assumption he has no excuse other than being one of 'those kids', rude people irritate the hell out of me. I don't care if you had your ass beat to hell and back in school, don't act like a douche. If someone says hello, a grunt of acknowledgement is better than just sitting there with your head up you ass. Want to lick your wounds? Stay the hell at home.

At anyrate, the girl next to him was nice. And the two guys next to me. I was pretty stressed out about going back to school. Not because of the work, but because talking to people freaks me out. People I don't know, anyway. Even people I do know, now that I think about it. I've gotten worse as I've become older, and it's more of a challenge (but you wont' find me rudely ignoring people who try to talk to me). I'm hoping the class will help me be better at interacting with humans again. *laughs*

In the Dog Pound

Dear Mexico,

Please drop all charges against Duane Chapman (aka Dog the Bounty Hunter) and associates. In return, the US will return to you all criminals from Mexico currently residing in our prison system and on our streets. No, really, you can have them back. Most Americans won't even raise a fuss to extradite them.

We understand that bounty hunting is a crime in Mexico. I'm sure Mr. Chapman and pals are sorry they apprehended serial rapist extraordinaire Andrew Luster. We'd let you have him too, but really didn't think it fair your wives and daughters be subjected to a disgusting waste of trash like that. Sorry for caring. We'll be sure to let him know that when he finishes his 124 year sentence, your country will be waiting with open arms for him to return. You can even throw him a galla. Make certain only to invite the most elite coyotes and richest drug cartel lords, okay. Mr. Luster is an important guy.

We'd like to extend the offer to go halvsies on a wall along our border. This is the only way the Mexican people left in Mexico can rest assured American bounty hunters won't be sneaking into the country to do horrible things like arrest rapists and then go home.

Thanks again,

The USA

Is it over yet?

Christ. I'm so damn tired. Work, work, work, work, WORK. Already this week I've logged 39 hours. Two more days to go. I think September might kill me. Next week I start school, my company is shipping down more techs to bat clean up, and I'm staring another six day work week in the face. Well, next month I'm taking the two damn vacation days I have left and sitting my ass in front of my new HDTV. Videogame land, here I come.

I don't mind being so busy at work, the days go by fast enough, but it sort of sucks when you realize at the end of the day that "DAMN! It's been 12 hours already?" Then I drive home, go to bed, get up, and go back to work. It's like I never left the place.

I keep telling myself to be patient. November will come soon and I'll get laid off for a few weeks (hopefully that's all...not like the beginning of this year *cringe*). But my boss tells me I might linger until December this year. I gave him a super dirty look when he brought it up, but so be it if it happens. The money would be nice, but in this business, a person needs at least two to four weeks of down time to recoup from the stress. Seriously. If I had to work this job with no break, I'd probably kill someone...or myself. I'll take two weeks over no weeks off any day. Other than that, I love what I do.

Crikey!

I imagine that's what millions of Crocidile Hunter fans are shouting across the globe today. For those living under the proverbial rock, Steve Irwin has died. No, he wasn't chomped by one of his toothy friends. He was stabbed in the heart by a stingray barb. A freakish accident more than a vicious attack.

I always knew Mother Nature would one up him one of these days, but for some reason I still thought of him an invincible. I mean, all those crazy stunts and still alive? The man had some serious Karma. But not enough.

What a sad, sad day. My son will be devistated. Steve Irwin was his hero for the longest time. He idolized the man. He still does. I think it's safe to say the human-kind lost something great today.
