Testing Upgrade

Just testing the new version of MT my cousin hooked me up with. I'm so happy! Thanks cous! You're the greatest. Everything seems to be working good, though for some reason Firefox squishes everything to one side in the manager screens, which is annoying, but not unlivable. Why is that?

Anyhoo, I checked it in IE, and things look just fine (wierd), so soon, comments will reopen on a regular basis as I get Sp@m blocks in place. Yay!

I really love some of the features on the new MT. Especially being able to see all the comments at once, instead of having to sift through them one at a time. How nice! Very cool! Also, in Firefox, my little tool bar is back so I don't have to do the HTML myself...for some reason in the old version, IE allowed the tool bar, but Firefox wouldn't. I'm not sure if I'm missing plug-ins or if it's just something to do with Firefox. Arxane, do you know?

Well, at anyrate, I'm really happy! Thanks so much Jeff! I know you're really busy, but you still take time to help a dumb cousin like me! :-)

Bleach and Naruto

Well, a brief run down of what's going on in the worlds of Bleach and Naruto.

Bleach is pretty simple. Ichigo has kicked Byakuya's ass, and the guy is still a friggen prick. It was nice to see him lose his cool for once though. Anyway, in chapter 168 a shit load of people are dead, thanks to Gin (probably). What the hell is that jerk-off up to anyway? Hitsugaya walks in and finds the 40 wisemen that make up the Soul Societies council have been murdered. But oddly, the blood is all dried so the kill wasn't recent. Which means that the sentance passed onto Rukia was a fake.

Kira walks in and Hitsugaya and Matsumoto give chase, trying to question him on who is responsible. He gives them no real answers, but tells Histugaya that Hinamori is no longer safe within the 10th divisions quarters. Hitsugaya starts to panic and leaves Kira to Matsumoto.

To make a long summary short...Kira has gone bonkers...thanks to Gin (probably) and has decided to kill Matsumoto. Apparently its "all part of the plan".

Meanwhile, Hinamori finds the chamber with all the dead guys and starts putting two and two together. Then Gin appears behind her.

My thoughts...someone ELSE is going to die next chapter....and it won't be the bad guys....

Naruto episode 123 has Lee riding to the rescue (for those of you who don't watch the raws). He keeps Kimimaro on his toes, drinks some sake he mistakes for medicine and starts to go all nutty. A funny episode, but I feel bad for Kimimaro. He really gets duped on showing off his skills...Oh well. Sasuke has come out of the bucket and Naruto gives chase. (I really hope he eventually runs into his brother and gets his ass whooped again)...Anyway, Shikamaru is having a tough time with flute girl, and Kiba is just barely staying alive.

Naruto Chapter 249 has Gaara and "yeah" boy squaring off. Gaara seems to hold the upper hand (being he's surrounded by sand), but "yeah" boy has a few tricks up his sleeve. He tries to blow up the village with his exploding clay crap, but Gaara makes a huge shield and protects it (much to the surprise of the people). Of course, "yeah" boy uses this opportunity to nearly blow up Gaara and capture him.

Oh shit.

Akatsuki 1

Good guys- 0

Be prepared for fillers folks, or an abrupt ending to Naruto. The anime is catching up to the manga with amazing speed. Of course, this is pure speculation on my part, so don't leave any stupid messages crying about crap....(not that anyone would), but common sense dictates here....

Well...shit...

I just finished watching episode 18 of Gankutsuou...I think I might be depressed for a few days. Talk about the saddest, most painfully emotional animated episode I've seen to date. Nothing even compares...Not the death of Haku in Naruto, not incident with Hughes in FMA, nor the death and brutal torture of Susumu's sister in PeaceMaker...Not even the ending of Chrono Crusade (which was terribly sad BTW). To tell the truth, it was ALMOST as sad as the film "Green Mile", to which I bawled my eyes out, as did my macho, very large and scary male friend did too (albeit, discretely).

Sheesh...all I could say was "Shit..." I kinda just sat there as the credits started to roll going, "God...that is so horribly fucked up..." Of course, I cried too...

I'll give credit to the Japanese VA's here. I've never seen a series so well acted. They are an incredible cast. If Gankutsuou comes to the US, American VA's have their work cut out for them. I'm not saying they're not capable, I'm just saying that the job done by the Japanese cast is so utterly superb, it will be difficult match what they've already done. If US VA pull it off, that would be awesome...

And, there's the material that they creators of this series have had to work with. The Count of Monte Cristo is a fantastic book. I recommend it to anyone who likes to read deep, emotional stories that get you thinking. Gankutsuou has managed to keep those emotions intact in their adaptation...with is a feat on its own.

So...were am I now with this series? Hn...

How do you fault the Count? Certainly, he is mad with revenge and has taken things too far (WAY too far)...but doesn't he have a right to extract vengeance against those who did him wrong? Normally, I'd say no...but in his case, what was done to him was so terribly horrific...someone needs to be punished. But targeting Albert, his ex-best friends son is wrong, no matter which way you turn it. Yet, what a better way to make the man suffer than to use his child to destroy him, right? *shakes head* I didn't think he'd actually try to hurt Albert...I figured he'd use him to destroy everything Mondego (his friend) and Mercedes (his ex-fiancé) had built in their lives...Well, he's accomplished that, but it still wasn't enough...But that's the funny thing about revenge, right? Where does it stop?

Sadly, not until someone gets hurt...or even killed.

For the longest time, I though Albert was the contrast to the Count’s madness, but funny enough it turns out to be Franz who exposes how wrong both the Count and Albert are in their actions. It’s incredibly sad that Albert’s stubbornness and nativity, along with the Count's rage and lust for revenge would cost such an passionate, caring individual to expire. I admire his devotion to Albert...truly, no one could ask for a more incomparable friend. How many of your friends are willing to die for you? I don't mean taking a bullet. I mean walk to their death, literally plan it, knowing full well that they will die in an attempt to save your life? I can't understand that sort of feeling for another person (other than my son). I can’t understand what drove Franz to save Albert…

At any rate, there’s several more episodes left in this show. Things have become decidedly tragic, and I don’t think they’ll get much better. I think the question everyone is asking now is “How far will the Count go?” I don’t think he has any limits, after seeing what he did to Franz (thinking he was Albert at the time). What will Albert do next? He gave the Count his trust, then held his best friend in his arms, bleeding and cut to ribbons by that very man…

Crap, I hope this show gets licensed in the US. I want the friggen DVD’s!

Supercomic Gekijoh 71: An Albel Story

There were some short stories in Enix's Supercomic (Star Ocean: Till the End of Time) and some were pretty funny, so I did a quick translation of a few. Well...I've got one done, two more in the works. I probably could have finished them tonight, but I don't feel like it...anyway, as I've said before, I'm hardly fluent in Japanese, but I do my best. I do recommend picking up the comics. They're worth the money!

(Oh, and if you haven't played the game, you might not get the joke here. After completing a map, you recieve a "bunny". Also, Albel wears a sarong (aka: skirt). He's also evil incarnate, but an ally...Most of the jokes in this comic are inside funnies for those of us who've played the game)

Star Ocean:Till The End Of Time

Got my manga the other day...books 2-4 so far, still waiting for book 1. Anyhoo, here's some scans...of Albel of course, who is my favorite character. I'll do some of Nel and Cliff later. They're pretty damn funny in the manga....especially when interacting together. Albel is...well...a hell of a lot more evil...ha ha! I'm to lazy to do the translations tonight, so you'll have to settle with pictures instead (unless of course you read Japanese). Albel spends a lot of time calling people "Kuso mushi" and "Ahou"....*laughs* (maggot and fool).

He spends a lot of time eating and drinking too, which I find funny, considering he's so damn scrawny...

Anyhoo...ALSO...

Naruto will be on CN later this year apparently. Not sure the time frame, but we'll find out. Arxane, you might get to listen to Narutards freak when it goes on Toonami or whatever the hell it's called now... *laughs* ;-)

Naruto picked up by new company

ShoPro Entertainment, who recently merged with VIZ has announced the aquisition of Naruto TV.

So, no more speculation about Funimation or 4Kids. You otaku who freak out over crap like this can just shut up now. You'll have a sub, right along with the dub. Be happy you get crap at all.

I for one am happy, but also a bit sad. No more BT downloads...kinda tough to stomach 121 episodes into a series. I suppose there are still the raws, which I'll probably watch (as I am with Gankutsuou).

I'm more concerned about the pace of the series vs that of the Manga. It's catching up quite fast. I'd hate to see a replay of the Kenshin fiasco...I'm looking forward to seeing the Akutsuki in action again...

Brrr...

I'm freezing. I mean shivering type freezing...it's so damn cold, though the sun was out all day. Even then it wass cold. Why is it warmer when there's snow on the ground? Sheesh...I can't wait for Spring to finally be here...then I can bitch about our insanely hot summers...*Laughs*

I got the volumes 2, 3, 4 of Star Ocean in the mail today. I really like the manga version. Nel and Cliff crack me up. Albel is 10 times more evil than in the game...I'm still waiting for another volume to come in the mail...

I also got ZERO 8 today. I cried at the end (of the volume...the story isn't finished yet). I was so pissed...Friggen Yamazaki!!!! WHY!!!!????? I really do need to get the next few scans up of book 2. Sorry about that...To rub even more salt into the wound, I have everything ready to be edited...the entire book has been translated...I've just been to friggen lazy to do it...Shame on me. I'm such an asshole. Seriously though....ZERO is one of the best manga I've ever read. It's such an fantastic mystery and the relationships between the characters is astounding...GO READ IT!

Shit...I'm still upset about the turn of events...

I'm on a mission to find more screentones...mine got ruined...thanks to my cat. They're so expensive! I was pissed. So now I have to buy more....I think I'll do that this weekend...I need some for a few of my drawings...

You people need to go listen to some Blackcrowes. Right now!

That and some friggen Led Zeppelin! Yay! Thanks Maynard for renewing my rock files! I've been seriously slacking! I wonder if iTunes has some Gov't Mule?

*sigh* What happened to the days when people made good rock music? Where are all the good singers and guitarists? (Jimmy Page kicks ass...hands down) Oh well...I like all sorts of music, though the stuff that really moves me is old school rocks with a bit of blues mixed in (old school Aerosmith, Blackcrowes, Zeppelin, etc). Good stuff!!!!

VIZ Announces New Manga Magazine

Last week VIZ LLC announced its new manga magazine, Shojo Beat. A magazine directed at "girls stories" instead of "boys". The anthology will be rated "T" and be covering six titles from Shogakukan Inc., Shueisha Inc, and Hakusensha, all major publishers of girls comics in Japan.

The first issue is due out in July, with a preveiw issue availible in May. Retail cost will be 5.99 per issue, or 29.95 for a subscription.

Stories to be included are:

KAZE HIKARU by Taeko Watanabe
19th century Japan. Girl joins the Shinsengumi to avenge the death of her father and brother. She falls for Okita Souji, 1st captain of the Shinsengumi.

ABSOLUTE BOYFRIEND by Yuu Watase
Yuu Watase, popular shojo writer of titles such as Imadoki, Ceres, Fushigi Yuugi, etc. Riiko Izawa has no luch with boys. She's always picked on, kinda awkward, etc. Her idea of the perfect man is someone nice, cute, smart, etc. A mysterious sales man offers her a 3 day trial of a new product after she helps him. The new product is an artifical human programmed to love his owner absoulutly and indefinitly.

CRIMSON HERO by Mitsuba Takanashi
Nobara Sumiyoshi is an amazing volleyball player. It's all she wants to do. She comes from a traditonal family though, and is expected to work at her family's restaurant where she has to dress and act like a girl, something she couldn't care less about. She decides to enter Crimson Field High School, who are known for their volleyball team, but her mother is out to stop her at all cost. With the help of her Aunt, Nobara goes head to head with her mom.

NANA by Ai Yazawa
Two girls, same name, very different personalities. Nana Komatsu has decided to move to Tokyo to change her life. After nothing but man after man problem, she's in need of a change and hopes the big city can provide it. Nana Osaki is confident, gregarious, and not going to let anything get in her way as she dreams to become a rock star. What happens when the two Nana's meet?

GODCHILD by Kaori Yuki
Creator of Angel Sanctuary and amazing artist, Kaori Yuki brings us this tale of a young man named Cain. Cain lives in 19th century Europe and is forced to become an earl due to his father's sudden death. As Cain assumes the role, he begins to uncover the families dark secerets. Disheartened and alone, Cain develops an uncanny ability to solve murders that seem to follow him everywhere, and slowly he begins to uncover the mysteries surrounding his father's death and involvment in a cult society.

BABY & ME by Marimo Ragawa
Takuya Enoki is an 11 year old boy, but he's hardly normal. After the death of his mother, Enoki becomes the caretaker of his 2 year old brother while his father works long hours at the office. This story follows the two brothers as they live together and grow, learning about life in a very different family environment.

Meager Rock Files

My meager, yet rapidly growing music files. J has hooked me up with iTunes, which is really awesome. I spent most of the day importing songs to my play list and browsing their music store. Very nice!

New Computer

Well, I went out and bought a new computer. I settled on a desktop, and so far, I've been pretty happy with it. The only exception is it won't let me install Photoshop 7, which bums me out. Photoshop 6 and Illustrator seem to be working okay, which is a relief, but I'm always a skeptic.

Bit torrent and the rest of my stuff went back on just fine. I do have a few issues with Norton's fire wall messing with Bittorrent if it's left on, but shutting it off seems to do the trick. Not a good idea, I know, but what can you do? *laughs*

We've installed some spyware combantants, which are pretty cool. Strict too, but that's okay.

I've now got a cd burner and dvd burner (with something called light-scribe which I'll probably never use).

My cousin will probably kill me, but it's an HP. HP Pavillion 819. I almost got a Sony, as I expected, but they were so UGLY! I really didn't like the way they were made...well, the ones I could afford, that is. *laughs* I was so happy to know that the restore disk came with seperate cd's for several programs...so I won't have to reformat if something goes wrong like last time! None of that "You'll have to delete everything or buy the program yourself" shit I got from E-machines. Dirty Bastards!

A big thanks to J, who spent all evening shopping with me and helping me put everything up. Acutally...he did all the work. I watched TV. *laughs* You're so awesome! Thanks a million!

A picture I finished tonight. Photoshop was giving me hell today....crashed my computer and refused to load any paths. What the hell is up with that?

Various Line Art and...stuff

I've been drawing a lot lately. I don't know why, I guess I'm just in a creative mood. However, my skills (what little I have) have gotten really rusty. Shame on me!!!! Anywho, here's a few pictures I thought to share here. I've actually started a Deviant Art page, and will be posting stuff over there as well. I'll past the link in my "LINK" area late.

(I'm actually working on coloring this one. I'm on an Albel kick for some reason...Probably because I'm playing the game the third time through and his character just makes me laugh! He's so friggen evil! I thought it would be cute to draw him little and put bows in his hair.)

(A character from a novel I'm working on. His name is Sahajara and he's the bad guy...though somehow he's become my favorite...Hmmm, why do I like evil characters so much?)

(Abrasax again. He was the dude with the whip I posted earlier. Another evil dude from the story, hangs out with Asteroth and reaks havoc. You wouldn't know it, but he's a dragon. Look him up in a mythology book and you'll find out more about him. Tatooed and girlie, he's still a nasty tempered little ruffian.)

That's it for now. I've got a few other's etched out, but I won't get to them until I finish coloring "little albel". That might take a few days (probably all weekend).

A bit of enlightenment

After reading Arxane's blog about his recent increase of visitors, I starting thinking how this site has gotten an influx of hits too. No where nearly as much as his has, but for this obscure little place, it's enough to make my eyebrows raise.

Not that I mind, really, but I did have to wonder where they were all coming from. Most are searching for "Sasuke" images (via google). Being the nice person I am, I hooked them up with a few links...Still, I get a few strange ones too...like the people looking for "dead bodies" or "human killings"...

Uhhhh....okay....

I think I understand now, after reading Arxane's recent blog. Thanks for clearing up this little mystery! Ha ha!

On another note...I'm looking for a new computer. I've decided to get another desk top, a PC. Yes, I know...but I don't think I'm ready for a Mac. *laughs* I've been looking at Dells, but it's all greek to me. I'm a little leery of buying something so expensive online...nor am I certain about the entire wireless hook up stuff. We have wireless internet, but compaitibility is a concern. I suppose J and I will have to do some shopping in the near future. (heh) Plus, I need to start saving everything I want to keep on this computer, which will take awhile...

I am looking forward to getting rid of this stupid e-machine. I can't wait for it to go away. I'm thinking of giving it to my son to play games on. He's old enough to learn how to use a computer and this one would be perfect for him to fiddle around on. He loves to draw using the mouse, so I plan on keeping photoshop installed on it (though it's far to complicated for him to use correctly).

Also, I'm really looking forward to getting rid of this damn desk and chair. I'm going to get new ones too. My friggen back is killing me and there's no room for anything!!!! Of course, it's a standard writing desk I'm using, so I shouldn't bitch too much...but none the less....

Gankutsuou ( 巌窟王 ): Episode 15

God, I love this show. It just keeps getting better and better. Episode 15 has been the best episode to date, as things all start coming to a head.

The Count and Albert have left Earth on a little trip. Albert needed to get away from all the stress that has come into his life. His betrothed was taken away from him, his mother is acting strangly, his best friend is angry at him, people are being murdered, strange letters are showing up at his house, the Chief Justice tried to shoot him and the count...It was time for a vacation...

He spends some quality time with the only person he's willing to trust at the moment, not knowing that the very same man is responsible for all his heartache and pain. The Count sits Albert down and tells him a story about two lovers and the betrayal of a best friend. The story makes Albert cry and the Count seems to be touched...it is, after all, his own story (though Albert has no idea). The Count also tells him that his business in Paris is almost finished and he'll be leaving soon. Albert begs the count to stay or at least take him with him. The count again, is touched.

However, back on Earth, Alberts dad is running for president. They are holding court and he's speaking to all his supporters when Haydee comes in. She appears to be a follower at first, but when she takes the podium, she tells a horrific story about how her father was betrayed and murdered and herself and mother were sold into slavery. The man responsible? Why, none other than Fernand Mondego himself, known now as General Moncerf (Alberts father). Moncerf tries to deny it, calling Haydee a conspirator. His supporters rally, but Haydee silences him. Mercedes, Alberts mother, asks for proof, and Haydee shows them all the brand burned into her neck. He cannot deny what he's done.

Meanwhile, Fanz has left Paris searching for answers to the mystery of "Gankutsuou". After being forcable thrown from the Government Library even while having "confidential access", he's even more convinced that the Count is behind the sinster mishaps going on in Paris. He just can't prove it. So, Franz turns to grandfather Nortier. The old man seems to have the answers, and supplies them with a means to access his memories in thanks for saving his grandaughter from her murderous stepmother.

Back at the Count's estate, Haydee is feeling guilty and tells Ali that extracting her revenge hasn't made her feel any better. If not, she feels worse. She insists that she must deter the Count from his plan, not wanting him to feel the pain that she does.

In space, the Count tells Albert it is time for them to part. He says a final farewell to the boy, and Albert runs after him. The Count appears sad and torn, but sends him back to paris alone, telling him that his father needs him. After Albert is gone, the Count breaks down in what seems to be distraught sadness. He sobs, falling to the ground, but then his crying turns into uproarous, joyous laughter. He laughs and laughes, slapping his knees and gives his help the most evil look. He says it's time to go back to Paris, back to where the evil lives.

(This is probably one of the most sinister and evil scenes I've seen in an animated show to date. It gave me chills watching it)

Albert is alone on his space pod, plumetting for Earth.

A First For Me: Wallpaper Creation

I was looking around for a new wallpaper for my computer today and got fed up looking for Albel Nox. Sheesh...he is so unloved...that's just wrong...So I took matters into my own hands and created my own wallpaper...

Now no laughing. I have never, ever done this before...EVER...I actually got off my ass and loaded PS7 onto my computer (and I fell in love with making my own brushes...I almost forgot what I was doing in the first place...)

Anyway...nothing special or flashy...but TAH-DAH!!!!
