Photoshop CS3 Extended

Big thanks to my sis for ordering me the new Photoshop for Mac. I can't wait to try it out! It'll probably be here next week (I assume). I might require J or Jeff's assistance in the install--so be prepared for email or a phone call you two! LOL

Other than that, I am loving the Mac. I'm still enamoured by its beauty and how easily it runs. My only trouble with it so far (knock on wood), is it was booting up in Windows by default. That made me panic, as I don't want to use Windows at all. Thanks to Jeff who showed me what to do on that one. I haven't turned the computer off to see if I did it right yet, but the instructions on a Mac are pretty cut and dry...

I'm really itching to buy an external hard drive...I have been seriously thinking about doing that this weekend. I haven't put any of my music on the computer yet because of this. With Photoshop on the way, it's on my mind even more. That and I'd like to move these big ass movie files off the main hard drive.

I'd also like a printer...but that will have to wait. Especially with the whole job situation--which is so crazy confusing right now, I'm not exactly sure where I stand with my employment. * laughs * I've seriously considered taking up mediatation...really. My nerves are so frazzled...

They shipped it two day either wednesday or thursday...Didn't you get the emails I forwarded you? One of them had the tracking number.

Anyhoo - as for medication - I for one keep 10 mg of nerve defrazzlers with me just for those days that really push me over the edge. lol. I rarely take them - but every so often they really do come in handy!

How much music could you possibly have? That computer has a pretty large drive in it, no?

I have a sizable music collection and it still only takes up 20 GB or so.

Ars Technica has a very in-depth review of Photoshop CS3, which you can read here.

The upshot: Pretty good. :)

Well, the install went pretty well. I was a little startled at how different it looks on the Mac. I'm not used to the floating tool bars yet. I thought something had froze up! LOL But then I realized it was the PC user in me panicking. I edited a few photos and it works like a charm. Photoshop can be quirky on its own, so I won't be surprised if it freezes up here and there anyway. My new screen resolution will take some getting used to. Pictures are so clear (and bright!). But over all, I'm really happy with CS3. I'll have to play with the video editing part one of these days.

Big thanks to my sis too. She ordered it for me! I'm really happy to have PS on my computer again! Thank you! :)

Oh, I don't have a lot of music. But I'd like to keep media and stuff on an external disk anyway. Keep the clutter off my hard drive, I guess.

As I recall, you were using a pretty old version on your PC, no? They've made some changes over the years. One of CS3's biggest changes is with the UI - my guess is that the Mac version looks mostly like the Windows version, as with older Photoshop revs.

I've never had a "hard crash" on my Mac that necessitated a hard restart, though I know it has happened to people in the past. There's nothing about the Mac that can prevent someone from writing buggy code, though.

A tip: If you ever have trouble with a crashing or hanging app, hit Command-Opt-Escape and you can usually kill it. Most of the time that's all you need, though if you still see weirdness you may need to restart (though it's pretty rare under Mac OS X to have the whole thing hang - that was a lot more common in the Mac OS 9 days).

Weird. Well, at least you can still use it to keep back-ups. :)
