I'm a yo yo.
At least, that's how I feel right about now...
And don't you just hate people who have no sense of humor?
Posted by Zoso at April 25, 2007 09:58 PMOooohh, yeah. I hate it when I talk to someone without a sense of humor. Most people that don't have a sense of humor do not understand sarcasm. Thus presenting a problem to me since I use sarcasm every-friggin-day. If their (the people w/o a sense of humor and/or understanding of sarcasm) facial expressions are anything to go by, they do not understand one iota of the conversations they have with me.
For example, one of my roommate's friends, does not understand sarcasm. Well one day he stopped by our room right as my roommie and I were about to grab some grub (and he decided to talk for a friggin hour). I was practically starving to death (according to my stomach) and he could not comprehend the subtle hints of 'I'm starving, leave already.' So I told him that, very sarcastically, (alright, and probably rude. But come on people, take the subtle hints!) that if I didn't get something to eat, I was going to turn praying mantis on his ass (you know, the females eat the males after... anyway). After a good thirty second pause, he retorts with "Really?" Temporarily forgetting his non-existant sarcastic meter I respond with "Yes, I am going to transform into a praying mantis (insert a visualization of a praying mantis transformer robot and welcome to the weird and totally useless shit my mind conjures up). After another thirty second pause, he says "But, that isn't anatomically possible."
*sigh* I don't know how you could possibly assume that I was being serious. Even if you somehow missed the sarcasm dripping off of the words... Needless to say, it took awhile before I actually got to eat. So, yeah, I feel for anyone that has to have a conversation with someone lacking a sense of humor. I know that I personally despise having to explain my witty or sarcastic remarks (which completely defeats the purpose).
