Back to the Grindstone

Well, tomorrow I return to work after a week long vacation. Not a very eventful vacation, except the Black Crowes concert and the fact that my car made it into the shop twice within a week--only to be sent home with a clean bill of health.

What a crock. I started it in the lot and it coughed and sputtered. They can't find the problem--or so they say. I'm wondering if they're reluctant to fix it, since it's under warrenty. At this point, I'm not sure what to do. They did the 35,000 mile service, charged me 400 bucks, and now it runs worse. I took it back in, they kept it for two days...and it still runs like shit. *does anyone else sense a scam?*

At this point, I'm stuck, since now I have to time to take it back in. I'll have to wait--and hope I don't get stranded on the highway somewhere.

As for work...looks like I'll be working every Saturday until I die. Or that was the word before I left for vacation. Oh joy. Even better, they're going to cut my weekday hours so they don't have to pay me overtime--but other employees get compensated for *working harder* these next couple months.

*heavy sigh*

I'm already missing my vacation. When will I get laid off? *laughs* Apparently not until December, though that's always up in the air. As far as I know, I could go to work tomorrow morning and find out I don't have a job. Sadly, part of me wouldn't be surprised. *shrugs*

Oh well~

I think I'll go find that blank, quiet place in my head. You know, the place we all go when shit starts getting...well...shitty...

Ta ta!

Oh...and I thought I'd mention:

I'm impressed that the Naruto fandom hasn't "assploded" after the premiere last night of the English dub. I thought it was so so, but have been sadly disapointed in the lack of OOOONOeZZZ!!!11one1!! :(

"assploded." I like that :(. It was amazing how many Naruto fans actually liked it. I myself enjoyed it, but the voice actors could use a little more practice, but they'll eventually settle into their roles later on as the series progresses. Overall, it was pretty good. Not as good as the japanese original, but good nonetheless. I will be watching it every saturday night. Oh, and awesome blog you have here.

On a side note, did you hear about Advent Children being delayed? Now that just plain sucks. :(

NO! I didn't hear that! Sheesh...that really sucks...We've been waiting for what, two years? More?

Oh, I think the voice actors will get better with time too. Iruka needs the most work, I think. His acting was sort of...dead pan. But it'll come with time. I was sad that they didn't keep the orginal opening. That was such a catchy tune. :)

I was pretty pissed that they changed the opening and ending themes, the old ones were good enough! They probably wanted to make it seem less like anime, and more like a cartoon. I agree that the voice actors need more work, but I was expecting a lot worse. I don't think I'll be keeping up with the English version, though. As long as they play new Fullmetal Alchemist on adultswim this fall, nothing can anger me. Well, almost.

Yay! New Full Metal Alchemist Episodes! I'm so happy!
Unfortunately, the delay on Advent Children is very real. It's been pushed back all the way to November, around the holiday season. Yeah, it does suck. But hey look at it this way, more time means a higher quality product, and I for one would appreciate a high quality dub as opposed to some rushed out and sloppy dub.

I watched the Japanese rip (raw) last night. Now I want to buy it even more! Grrr! Vincent is cooool...

Anyway, after watching the Japanese version, I wondered if they would continue to smooth out a few flaws here and there. I dunno, there were a few scenes that were kinda...I don't know if 'rushed' is the word or not, but they could have done a bit better.

Overall, I was really impressed with the whole thing. Sephiroth is just *awesome*!

Posted by: Zoso at September 13, 2005 02:24 PM

So is safe to assume that Sephiroth is still the same badass he always was? Vincent?

Posted by: gamma at September 14, 2005 02:58 PM

Of course! Both were very, very cool! Though I could have had a bit more of Sephiroth, but it turned out well.

Say, do you know if the Advent Pieces edition of the DVD is going to be released stateside? I just can't get enough of various extras so I'm praying that it'll be released over here, but from what I read in various articles and forum posts, it does not seem very likely.
(Cries at the fact that he might not be able to watch the anime OVA and play with the action figure.)

LMAO! Nothing wrong with playing with action figures...*shoves Alucard AF under desk*

You know, from what I've heard, we won't be seeing all the goodies. That sucks...we always miss out on the fun stuff!

Posted by: Zoso at September 14, 2005 06:26 PM

lol! Nope, nothing wrong with playing with action figures! It just shows you're still in touch with your inner child.
No goodies...damn. Oh well, at least we'll have the movie, whenever it does come out, and that's the most important thing of all. That, and I pre-ordered the soundtrack so I'm not that bad off I suppose. Still...
(Runs to the corner and weeps at the loss of Cloud and Fenrir goodies.)...Just kidding! At least we'll have those awesome statues of Sephiroth, Tifa, and Vincent. That's good to know! :)

I'm sorry to hear that you were having a crappy day that day... but sadly, while you were having problems I was having a blast at a Green Day concert! I feel kinda bad now...
