Why Didn't They Just Leave?

A well written perspective on "how come". I suggest people read it.

The situation in New Orleans is dire. It's saddening. It's angering. As always, the media is down there, putting their own spin on what's going on. People are pointing fingers. People are scared. People are pissed.

Though I can't relate to what's happening to those people, I do feel for them. The things I've seen on TV, read on the internet or in the papers just break my heart.

The best I can do is donate something small, seemingly insignificant. And I think a big thank you is in order to the countries who have stepped forward to offer help and support:

"Offers have been received from Russia, Japan, Canada, France, Honduras, Germany, Venezuela, Jamaica, Australia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Greece, Hungary, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico, China, South Korea, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, NATO and the Organization of American States..." Now if only those SOBs in office would just ACCEPT those offers of help.

"At least nine articles in the Times-Picayune from 2004 and 2005 specifically cite the cost of Iraq as a reason for the lack of hurricane and flood-control dollars."

I bet if you went and told Blair and Bush that, they'd say: "Naaaah, it isn't!". >XO
