Taking stride from J's weblog and an interesting bit of info I hadn't heard of yet, I was suprised to discover that a FF7 spinoff is in the works for PS2. Even better, the main character is my favorite from the orginal, Vincent!

Anyway, there's little news on exactly WHAT "Dirge of Cerebus" is. Apparently it looks to be a third person shooter, similar to "Devil May Cry". Screen shots have me a bit worried. Some are very pretty, others are full of jaggies and what not. Then again, I imagine they haven't "cleaned" up the game much yet. Apparently, Japan is suppose to get a 2005 release, which means us in the US probably won't see this gem until 2006. *sigh*
As for third person shooter, I'm down with that. Blowing shit up is tons of fun. Vincent has guns...and now that I think of it, I wonder if he and Albel Nox (Star Ocean) are distantly related? I mean, dark hair, red eyes, claw arm....
Nah...
Anyway, I'm really curious to see what they've done with the story, and I'm even more happy to see them expanding on an FF storyline that deserves it. (unlike FFX...ugh....) I'm awaiting Advent Children impatiently as well. Those who haven't seen the various trailers and promo's...well, go find them! They're worth a look, that's for sure. Several sites are offering them via bit-torrent.
For info on "Dirge of Cerebus", it seems that IGN is sporting most of the info. I'll admit, I haven't researched this very well, though, so take it as you will.
