Seven Samurai

Okay folks...I've been playing this game off and on since yesterday, and I'm really enjoying it, so I thought I'd talk about it a bit first.

Okay, it reminds me a lot of Devil May Cry and Chaos Legion. It's very linear, which is a shame, since the story has a ton of potential for growth and movment. Still, the fact that it's not all that intreaguing doesn't bother me too much. I'm usually a pretty story driven person, but the characters in this game are just so much fun, I look past it all. Don't get me wrong, the story's not "bad", but it's not "good" either.

I just love Natoe, he's so damn funny. Cocky, witty, and confident, not to mention a bad ass with swords. His dailogue is entertaining, not bland or dull, I've actually laughed outloud several times while watching the cut scenes. The other characters aren't bad either, everyone interacts with each other so well. I can't praise the voice acting enough either. It's incredible. Natoe's voice actor did such an amazing job. The dailogue sounds so natural! It makes the game that much more enjoyable (no, I'm not a sub fan, but I do appriciate good voice acting when I hear it).

Game play is pretty straight forward too, nothing spectacular, but entertaining. I happen to get a big kick out of slashing away monsters with my two swords. It's even cooler when it's done in slow motion. Natoe has a variety of moves, which are all awesome to behold (sort of like Dante's moves with his guns...*insert evil laughter*). The graphics are nice too. Not like FF nice, but very well done in my opinion. I happen to like decent graphics when I play games, I can be fairly picky, but my idea of decent and someone elses could be very different...but since this is my opinion of the game, I'll say whatever the hell I want...don't agree with me, go write your own review somewhere...

The only thing that really pisses me off about this game is the lack of "revive crystals". You can't buy them, you rarely find them anywhere...so if you fight like a dozen battles and are at the end of your life, you just have to pray some monster you chop to pieces drops one, two, or twenty...That's why I've been stuck on Chapter 9 for so damn long...I fight a horde of monsters...and when I say HORDE, I mean a HORDE, they're coming at me from all sides, like 20 of them at a time (no joke), and more are spilling out the portals. By the time I'm done wasting them, my life is limited. Of course, I'm thrown right back into another battle with some even tougher monsters (another horde) and I die everytime. GRRRRRRR....Ha ha, the irony is, I bet once I make it past these two hordes, I have to fight a boss to boot. Now that would JUST SUCK...

Also, I wish I could play as other characters. It's called Seven Samurai, but Natoe is the only one you control (as far as I know). Natoe is my favorite, but I think it would be cool to play as a couple of the others...oh well.

Anyway, for entertainment value, I really like this game. I'm sure if I had sat down and played it for a couple hours straight, I would have beaten it, so it's not a long game, nor is it hard...well, I'm only on Normal level right now...once I unlock hard level, I'll replay it...

Well, it's late, and tomorrow is the beginning of another week...sigh...Take care everyone!
