Tramp stamp ... that's kind of catchy. :) Good job on the avatars, as always.
Now I am off - I must swallow my pride and read **Insert Screaming** Eragon for my shitty Creative Writing assignment.
So, is your teacher teaching you how NOT to write a book? Please tell me that's the case, because if not, I weep for the educational system.
Posted by Zoso at March 25, 2007 10:47 PMAwesome! As always =)
Keep up the good work, and when someone deserves it-just give it to 'em! =P
I admire the way you handle things. It's nice to see someone sticking up for oneself and others(I'm referring myself to your other posts as well). It was really horrible what happened with your son-things like that shouldn't happen and it's a shame that there are people who would rather turn away and pretend nothing is wrong.
I hope for you and especially your son that things have gotten better...maybe this way, other children who might have been in a similar predicament, have been saved-so to speak-and has raised awareness of bullying.
Anyway, back on track, silly fans...it really baffles me as to why people have to be so utterly mean to others who don't share the same opinion as them...it makes me frown and shake my head in confusion. Maybe it's because they won't be confronted face-to-face...*shrugs*
I can't enter in ANY site without someone bashing something...it's kind of scary, actually. And frustrating.
Btw, ONLY if you have the will and the time to do this(and I know you don't really like the Sasuke character) but would you perhaps, make a Sasuke and Ino icon? I'd like to put it on an fc and they'll definately give you credit!
Anyway, I'll stop rambling now =P
Have a nice day!
Thank you, Eli. My son is fine. He's a trooper and that kid hasn't been back to school since. I'm thinking they expelled him. *hopefully* Personally, I've never been one to let people push me around, but my kid is a gentle soul...if he didn't look so much like his dad and myself, I'd swear babies were switched at the hospital. ;P
As for batshit fans--they amuse me. I don't get many around here, but it is aways fun to poke at their craziness. It amazes me how stupid some people get over cartoon characters. I mean, I love cartoons and comics too, but harassing people and fighting about it? Waaaaay too over the top for me. It gives me great joy though to point out the asshattiness of people though. *smiles*
Sasuke and Ino? That's a tough one! But I'll give it a try, since you're so nice. Might be this weekend though, I work some crazy hours during the week. Hope that's cool.
Oh, wow I really didn't expect an answer!
Thanks so much, it's really great for me to get posite feedback. ^^
I'm happy your son is doing better. I really detest it when someone wants to impose their will on others in any situation. Not that I'm someone to bully( =P ) but I got friends by protecting them when they were in a pinch. =)
Yeah, fans... I like anime as well but I'd never dream of dissing people because I have a different opinion than others, of characters and events that don't even exist.
That's just too stupid.
I wouldn't even diss others when it comes to world news! A nice, civilized discussion between opinions is all that is needed. Cripes.
About the icon: don't worry! Whenever you feel comfortable, you have the time and you are bored, is fine by me. =P
I'm just glad you even considered doing it. So don't feel obligated or anything(even though you have no need to!).
I understand about work hours-I practically live at school. o.0
In any event, good luck with everything!
Eli
Posted by Eli at March 27, 2007 09:57 AMACTUAL ASSIGNMENT: Research one well known author, as well as one of his or her written works; you must come up with a two page report on how the author has utilized rhetorical strategies as well as outside experience to create an interesting piece of literature.
Or something to that extent. We picked names out of a hat, and to my horror, I chose Christopher Paolini. ...It was then that I realized that God hated me.
Out of all of the authors in that hat - Arthur C. Clarke, JK Rowling, Philip K. Dick, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Tolkien, etc. I had to pick HIM.
**Sigh** Oh well. This class sucks ass anyways. We don't actually write anything anymore. Now we simply do guided readings for the first thirty minutes of class and then loaf around for the remaining forty minutes. The curriculum is of the elementary level - although, considering that some of the people in the class don't even know any author beyond Rowling, Koontz, or King, it is completely understandable that the material would be so ... lacking. One boy in there can't even read, as we painfully found out when he was chosen to read aloud.
To think that theses guys are seniors. To imagine that these people hold the majority of power within the confines of the school. To have to face the fact that the jocks will be accepted to any college simply because of their outstanding season record, while other people actually have to work at getting into a decent school.
It's fucking disgusting.
Posted by Gamma Classic at March 28, 2007 07:52 PMIf my kid is ever forced to read Paolini, I'm going to have words with the teacher. You should just write your report on Tolkien--or better yet, Star Wars. I mean, you'd be writing about Eragon anyway.
I tried to read that stupid book but the writing was so horrific and the plagiarism so glaringly obvious, I junked it. I'm all for borrowing ideas, but Jesus on a pogo stick, at least be discrete about it.
I feel for you, I really do.
