Yeah, I was really surprised! Most likely because he's done all those crazy things and then he gets killed in an extremely rare kind of accident. That, and he had so much energy too, a waste to see it go. D=

I was shocked too. I wasn't even sure I read the news right when I saw it at the gym.

It totally pissed me off that they (the media) are calling it an "attack". I have swam with stingrays. They are gentle, docile, creatures. It was certainly was a freak accident, and I am sure Mr. Irwin would be very disturbed with it being depicted as an attack.

It is a sad day.

This whole thing is so sad. I'm surprised none of the animal or nature channels have dedicated a marathon to him yet.

I happened to be awake when the RSS came across at like 2:15 in the morning. I was stunned.. and no, that's not intended to be a bad pun. I actually watched and loved his movie, and was hoping for a sequel. I guess it's most dissapointing because I can't imagine there are many people who do what he did that would respect and appreciate the animals like he did.

Lord knows I won't be wrastlin' gators any time soon and it was a comfort to know that when it needed to be done, there was Steve to do it.

I didn't know all that much about him at all. I don't think I ever really cared to watch either. I get terribly freaked out by most creatures, so I can't even conceive of someone walking up and jostling one around. I'll be over heeeere, safe in the house.
