Hemet is ungodly hot. If there is hell on earth, it is Hemet (it doesn't help that the place has an overall Walmartesque ambiance, either).
I'd guess that it's roughly equivalent to The Area during the summer.
Neither is as bad as Glenna and I's trip to Vegas last year. It was pushing near 120 degrees - and kept up into the 90s at 10 PM at night (!!!).

At this very moment, I'm sitting happy with 70 degree temps in lovely Rancho Cucamonga - it'll probably get into the mid 80s before the day is through. This is a bit cooler than the historical average, which is good for me as our air conditioning is on the blink.

Honestly, I thought you'd guys be right up there with us about now (temp wise). I'm surprised it's cooler there! Right now, it's 1pm and 90 degrees. The hottest part of the day starts around 3pm here and it won't start to cool down until 5pm, so I imagine we'll top out today at at least 95 or more...tomorrow is suppose to hit 100...*sigh* But it could be worse, like Vegas! LOL
You know what gets me, is all those people who come from other parts of the state (or out of state) during the Hydroplane races...Holy Moley, I can't imagine sitting by the river all day in 100 degree weather (drinking beer, none the less)...It just blows my mind away! *LOL*

It's unusual, for sure. As Rancho tends to get pretty hot too (we're about 45 miles east of Los Angeles in the desert-y regions ... aside from the obvious greenhouse effect that the smog causes, L.A. itself keeps pretty cool because it's near the ocean).
Actually, that's a funny thing: The weather here is almost exactly the same during most of the year as back home. The main difference comes in the winter-time, when you all are frozen to the bone and I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt. :>
I have to admit, if I ever move back there I will miss the weather the most. There's something about being able to walk around in shorts and stare up at the nearby mountains and see snow. It's also funny to hear the surf report and snow report in the same newscast, for those who want to (and can) both surf and snow ski in the same day.

Yeah. That day blew me away, it was so hot. We're slated to go up there again in a few weeks (another karate tournament, just like last year) and I'm not looking forward to it. Looks like it's "only" 100 degrees right now... Guh.

Posted by Jeff at June 22, 2004 03:12 PMYeah, it finally topped out at 100 today (16 percent humidity), which was a bit surprising. It's still pretty hot outside right now, and it's almost 10pm. That doesn't bode well for tomorrow...LOL
