Same here - probably the scariest video game I had ever played. The inability to see very far around you and the constant 'hiss' of the monster detector (or whatever it was) was incredibly spooky.

We only played the first one. Never got around to beating it, though, as at some point Glenna refused to watch any more - could be because I insisted on playing it only with all of the lights turned off and the volume turned up.

Yeah, it scared me to death. I gave it to my friend Mike and watched him play it a few times. There was this one part where you're in this dirty bathroom and when you went to leave, the very far stall door slammed open. I screamed like the girl I am and made him turn it off. Nothing came out of it, if I remember right--it was just there to scare you shitless. Jerks. LOL

I hear Fear is pretty scary. But I haven't tried it. Nor will I...ever.

I haven't ever tried the Silent Hill game. I have only played Doom 3 which scared the heck out of me. Especially this one part where you are in a blood coated bathroom (What is up with the bathrooms?) and all the lights (in the game) shut off, and the mirror does something fucked up and turns your character's face into something demonic. All the while playing creepy music ment to scare the hell our of you. And believe me, it works.
