I couldn't agree more. My parents have raised me (and are still raising me) to repect people and have manners. My sister never seems to get this and when people smile or wave at her, she doesn't feel the need to be polite and smile/wave back. I'm usually the one to say thank you or hold open doors for people. Unless I'm extremely pissed off, like I was at the Westfield Shopping Center Mall in Toledo.
People are just plain RUDE. They have to stay up your butt and follow way too close if your going "too slow" and then switch lanes. This happened and the people I was with switched ahead of them and I was so angry at this point (from other things) that I just gave them the worst glare I could muster in my current mood and speed walked by them. I'm sorry if that's rude, but if you have a problem don't get on MY ass..
We were at the mall for a dress for my dance and this mother and two girls were totally tearing through the dresses, spinning the rack around, talking obnoxiously loud and giving me and my mom strange looks. I would've appreciated in if they would've just come out and have said what they had on their minds.
Sorry about that. I can really relate with you on the cell phone thing. At our mall especially you get what you would call "preps" that whip out their cell phones talk obnoxiously loud about some great thing that happened to them or some drama in their life. My gosh, the US is going berserk.

If I'm not driving fast enough for you, please, pass me. Don't ride my ass, or I'll slow down because then, if something arises, I have to stop for the both of us.
Holding the door open doesn't take very long, and if your having a bad day, it just makes it a little better to get the following "thank you." Even if they forget their manners you still walk away knowing that you did a good deed. (No matter how small)
Yeah, we all have our moments. I know I do! I feel really guilty later though, after I think about it. I totally agree with you last sentance too Mia-- even if the person rudely walks on by, at least you've done your part. So true. So true.
