I like the Albel ones (no surprise there). Do you know that there are practically no Star Ocean III icons around? Especially good ones like these as the rare few around always seem to use the typical screen caps of the characters. I might swipe the red ones. You're lucky, you can make really good icons because you have the manga. ^__^
Posted by Kryssie at April 17, 2005 06:13 AMAwesome, more pics for my AIM account!
Posted by J at April 17, 2005 09:19 AMJ-- I made some Gravi avatars just for YOU! *laughs* They won't work on AIM though. Too big. I'm sure you can find some place for them though (you're web site maybe?) Ha ha! I'll make some more later (with manga scans) You do know that the last book comes out in two months! You're so far BEHIND!!!! ;)
Send me an e-mail. I want to know how you're doing.
Posted by Zoso at April 17, 2005 06:21 PMKryssie--
I know! There's NO SO3 avatars anywhere! That's sort of what started this avatar making fiasco off...I was searching for Albel avatars and couldn't find any I liked so I got annoyed and figured; what the hell, I'll make my own. *laughs* Swipe away! I made two of Cliff, though they didn't turn out all that great. I'll have to do some more scans.
I should be writing...*laughs* We've had company all weekend though. Making avatars is mindless work, actually. So when someone wants to talk to me, I don't worry about losing my train of thought. I do feel guilty though for not getting my new chapter up. *sigh* I'll just make some more SO3 icons and all will be right with the world...right? O_o
Even with the manga, pickings are kinda slim. Albel hasn't shown up too much yet (I only have four offical books)--I'm waiting to get my hands on the next one (when ever that is)...
I think I'll do some Ai Baby ones too. That manga/anime is SOOOO cute! ( I usually don't like cute things).
Posted by Zoso at April 17, 2005 06:28 PMWebsite? What website? Have you seen it lately! It's hideous! I need to work on it a lot to get it up to par with some of the things I want to do with it. I know the perfect spot for a couple of those avi's on my site though! As far as catching up with Gravi... I'll be able to afford some Manga (given the hospital nazi's don't take limbs for saving my life and the $35,000 they billed me for it) when I.... duh duh duh duh... move back on the 30th! SEE you soon! I can almost taste China Cafe already.
Posted by J at April 18, 2005 04:57 AMThe 30th? Really! Cool! We'll have to have a movie fest and pizza party! *laughs*
35,000? No shit? Jebus, that's harsh...
Posted by Zoso at April 18, 2005 06:58 AMAww! Albel needs to show up more! They're so cool. I love the fact that Cliff has earrings! At least, I think they are. The "call it a hunch" one is great! You should definitely make more when you have the time!
Don't worry about your writing! Although, I hate being distracted too. I wrote a good half-a-chapter and then had to go to sleep, of ALL things, and the next morning, I couldn't continue as well. Ah well. As you say, more SO3 avatars = all right in the world.
Posted by Kryssie at April 18, 2005 08:22 AMHeh! I found a program that lets me do animated avatars! I was up late last night playing with the trial version. I think I'll go and buy myself a copy today or tomorrow!
I worked on the story too, but didn't get too far. I think i'm getting pickier about my chapters...nothing I write seems good enough. *laughs* So I'm constantly erasing and editing. I should probably just sit down and write what-ever comes to mind, then edit later. *sigh*
Posted by Zoso at April 20, 2005 09:00 AMYeah, I'm the same. Next time you go to edit, say NO! and just keep going with the flow. Btw, I saw someone on LJ with lots of your icons. O.O A hit! Oooooh, animated icons! It's a shame there appear to be no movie clips from SO3 around... making one of those would be sweet!
Posted by Kryssie at April 20, 2005 11:04 AMOh? You did? Wow, I'm surprised. They suck compared other icons I've seen, but then again, I don't profess to spending much time on them. I've seen several icon forums where people critique and what not, but as far as I'm concerned, and icon is an icon. *laughs* I don't care for "busy" icons and artsy ones bug me.
*shrug* That's cool though. I'm glad some people are enjoying them. (^-^) Making them is fun.
I'd love to catch some movie clips of SO3! I'm seriously hoping they do a cartoon one of these days! *laughs* There's a cartoon for Xenosaga, but it sucks big time....
Posted by Zoso at April 20, 2005 05:22 PMI like artsy icons sometimes. Really, I like icons with the MOOD. THE ATMOSPHERE. Hee hee hee. I also like really amusing ones. The best one I had was a clip of Cloud from FF7: Advent Children (or that phone advert thing) where he's on his phone, then the screen flashes and it shows him being warped next to Neo from The Matrix, who promptly says in a speech bubble: "WTF?" LMAO!
Me too on the cartoon, so long as they keep the same voice actors, otherwise my mind would break.
Coincidently, I saw an episode of Rave Master the other day and the girl in it was voiced by the same person that did Sophia's voice. =] I recognised instantly!
Posted by Kryssie at April 21, 2005 08:13 AMha ha@ cloud avatar! I'd love to see that! That's funny!
I should have some more Albel scans in a week or so! #5 of the manga shipped today, so it should be here by mid next week. Yay! I can't wait to read it!
I like amusing icons. I'm not really picky. If they're clear and easy to read, I'm happy. A few places I looked at for tips were kinda scary. I mean, icons I thought looked fine they sort of snubbed. *laughs* That's why I rarely join online "art clubs" and stuff. Constructive critism is cool, but nit picking bothers me.
I've only seen one episode of Rave Master. It didn't do too well on tv here. Oddly, most of the anime they try to show to kids here does pretty bad. DBZ, Yugioh, and Pokemon are the only really successful ones. Kids didn't care for Kenshin, YuYu Hakushou, etc., so they got moved to late night and fared a bit better (older veiwers obviously). Naruto will be on television here in Sept. I'm happy, but scared. *laughs*
Albeldo from Xenosaga is voices by the same guy who does Albel. Actually, he does several villians, though I can't remember all their names. I'm not a big fan of Sophia. I like to kick her butt in the VS mode. *laughs*
Heheh, Sophia... I like how her voice isn't the stereotypical cute kind and how she's supposed to be very mature for her young age and looks very young/innocent, yet she still comes across as cute and irritating. Ahh, nice try.
Does html work in these comment boxes? I could probably show it to you but I would hate for the creator to start shouting at me for posting it in various places. O.o I might see if I can find the post it was in on LJ.
I dislike the fact that the only anime they show over here are the "kiddy" ones. There doesn't seem to be as wide a variety of animes on TV here than over in America, except for brief episodes of Outlaw Star, Vision of Escaflowne and half of Shaman King. I liked those three, even if SK was dumbed down a lot.
ALBELdo, huh? ^__^ Seems to be a running theme... The guy's name was... Crispen? Something like Steven Crispen or something like that. I remember "crisps" for some reason (potato chips, as you say =]). I love Albel's voice! It wasn't at all like I assumed it would be after looking at him. It's still got some of the evil-effeminate nature to it, but it's a little more original. I love Nel's voice too... it so nice!
Hmm... I like to kick Roger's butt purely for the fact that his running across the battle field cracks me up everytime. *waddlewaddlewaddle*
Posted by Kryssie at April 22, 2005 06:31 AMYou know, I've never tried an html link in the comments before. O_o That's okay though.
I don't know why Sophia irked me so much. I think it was her unyielding innocence that made me want to gag. I can't stand female characters like her. "Oh Fayt! Oh Fayt!".....OMG just shut up already! *laughs* Nel, Maria, and Mirage were way cooler. Ha ha!
Crispen Freeman is that guys name. He did Amon of Witch Hunter Robin, Regal from Tales of Symphonia, Rosiel of Angel Sanctuary, etc.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0293342/
Ha ha! Poor Roger, but that's so funny!
Oh, time to go home! (still at work!)
Posted by Zoso at April 22, 2005 04:18 PMI thought the cutscene when you first meet Roger was hilarious. I laughed out loud when Cliff said: "What, the kid has a TAIL?!" =D! That's a moment that reminds me of the way Fayt, Cliff and Nel are in the manga.
YES, that was the guy's name. Rosiel? Isn't that the bad guy you told me about in an earlier entry? Heeheee, seems that guy's found his niche.
I thought Mirage could have been given a much better role. I liked her ending, but I was annoyed that the developers didn't add Mirage and Adray into the cut-scenes after they joined. Mirage is a good fighter too. =/ (shame Adray always dies when I use him in the arena... heh heh heh) It's a shame you can't use four people in a party, like in Golden Sun, coz then I'd use Mirage along with Nel, Albel and Cliff...
Posted by Kryssie at April 23, 2005 12:01 AMOkay, off the point, but I just went to your ff.net profile (awesome picture, btw!) and I noticed that you'd edited part of your story. Or must have done, because the word count appeared different to me (I swear it had 6s in it or something, yeah, I've checked it too often =P!) so I clicked to check and I can't seem to get into your story. Is there a problem or is the site just being screwy?
Posted by Kryssie at April 23, 2005 12:06 AMI checked the story and it came up fine for me. I even posted the next chapter! *laughs* Finally. Lordy, it's awful...I'm kinda pissed I posted it...Oh well.
Thanks! Yeah, I made a pic for my bio. I paid ten bucks to see what the "member services" were like. *shrug*
I made new avatars! Blinking ones! *laughs*
Oh, and you inspired my newest post about "bad guys". *laughs* Now you can see Rosiel! He looks like a chick, doesn't he? I was surprised when I saw Freeman's name as Rosiel. I'm going to have to watch my DVD and see if I can tell! I never noticed before! *then again, the dub of Angel Sanctuary is so horrible, I watch it in Japanese instead--and I'm not too picky about dubs*
I didn't see the Mirage ending. I liked her too. She was cool. I only used Adray to heal people while I walked around. *laughs* The only people I used in the game were Nel, Albel, Fayt and Cliff. Oh, and Maria when they made me.
Have you played Tales of Symphonia? That is an excellent game! Shadow Hearts (both of them) where awesome too! I wonder when the new FF comes out? It seems like forever!
Well crud--I can't believe it's like 2:30 am! O-O I thought it was like 10pm! Wow...Okay, time for bed! Ha ha!
Talk later!
Posted by Zoso at April 23, 2005 02:28 AMI can't believe you were still up after I'd just woken up for the morning!
Yeah, I worked out the problem. The screen was telling me that there were only 13 chapters posted, but was showing the word count of 14 chapters. So, I thought you'd modified it, but then I couldn't access the story. Guess ff.net was in the middle of updating or something. That's happened to me before, where it's not shown your story as updated. >=|
ROSIEL IS A DUDE. Coincidently, Crispen Freeman also did the voice of someone evil on Rave Master. Hahaha! Maybe they nabbed a load of the cast from SO3.
I meant the Mirage ending with Cliff. I've only completed the game through once (I get to the end boss and then run around doing loads of other things before even completing it) and I got Fayt's ending with Sophia by default. I'm trying to aim for an Albel or Nel ending on this playthrough. Damn, I wish they'd done endings for more than just Fayt. I've read the script for Nel's ending with Fayt, so I kinda know what to expect, but I don't know anything about Albel's, so... =3 Heheh, I used Sophia for that in my first playthrough, on this one, Nel has a Regen. Symbol, so I just use her to heal all the time.
No, I haven't. =X I only just got my little brother's Playstation2 this Christmas. Are they all Playstation games? I was a Nintendo junkie before (still am, I s'pose) but I really wanted to get some more RPGs. Nintendo are awesome, but they don't do as many RPGs. =/
Posted by Kryssie at April 23, 2005 03:35 AMThanks for the review--so far no one has slapped me along side the head. I was sort of expecting it when I read the reviews this morning. Ha ha!
Heh! Rosiel is a dude! Crazy huh? He doesn't look like a psychopath does he?
Ohhh! If you get the chance, I recommend playing both the Shadow Hearts (both of them), Xenosaga (EXCELLENT GAME), Kingdom Hearts and Dark Cloud. Those are great RPG's for the PS2. Tales of Symphonia is a Game Cube RPG--one of the best I've seen (even comparing them to PS2's). Samurai 7 and Devil May Cry or fun action adventure games, though not very deep. Grand Theft Auto: San Andres is a blast too!
Ugh. I've got the worst headache today. I think I'm going to go take a nap... @_@
Take care!
Posted by Zoso at April 23, 2005 10:55 AMOops, probably should have guessed ToS was a GC game. Aheh heh. I'll definitely look into those games. I really want the new Legend of Zelda when it comes out.
Why did you feel someone would slap you upside the head? Like I said, I do think it's a really great chapter. What don't you like about it, anyway?
Ack. Hope you feel better soon! =/ Speak soon.
Posted by Kryssie at April 23, 2005 12:23 PMI dunno...it seemed to be missing something. I can't put my finger on it though. I'm going to work on the next chapter tomorrow. I've got some stuff planned for it that will explain a few things from this chapter. Then I need to get them to Mota...*laughs* They certainly aren't making much head way...poor Fayt...he's been forgotten. *laughs*
Thank you though, for your input. I do feel a bit better about the chapter after hearing from others that it wasn't too bad. :)
ToS was a fun game. One of my favorite RPG's ever. It was long, and the story was really deep. Great stuff-- and multiple endings! Yay! The bad guy was pretty cool too! I'm still working on Devil May Cry...sheesh...could they make the bosses any harder? Grrr! I've got Xenosaga II as well, but compared to the first game, this part of the saga is kinda disappointing. I hope they do better with #3.
I took some meds, so my headache is gone for now. I think it's my allergies. Yuk...I never had allergies as a kid, but now that I'm older, it's hideous! (T_T)
Posted by Zoso at April 23, 2005 03:56 PMOh Wow! These avatars are lovely; I especially like the Albel ones, and the one that has Sasuke, and says whiney bitch. It's funny, and true. Sasuke annoys the bloody hell outta me. As for your story on fan net; since I didn't put it in my review. I thought it was still good. Even if it didn't come out the way you wanted it, it was still an excellent chapter, kudos to you! ^-^
Posted by Jenni at April 23, 2005 05:36 PMThank you for your review! I'm glad you liked the chapter. I was a pain to write and for some reason I think it's missing something, but....
Ha ha! Sasuke annoys the hell out of me. I used to like him, until he became an uber moron...now all he is, is a "whiney bitch". I need to get some more screen caps of him so I can make fun of him some more. I add new avatars here as I make them, though I think I'll have to start moving them to my "ZERO" site soon...
Anyhoo, thanks again! (^-^)
Posted by Zoso at April 23, 2005 09:31 PMOooh, can't wait to see that! (I wrote "oooh" in my review and it shortened it to "oh", wtf?) I love reading your story. If it was an actual book, I probably wouldn't be able to put it down. Still, chapter by chapter progressions keep me really hooked. You end chapters really well, I think. Always with a little cliffhanger! ^_^
Sounds cool! I'm still mucking around on my SO3 game, atm, just doing the extra stuff before going to Firewall. I saw the "pudding with tentacles" scene in the S rank of Albel's single battle! HAHA! If you went back to look at that, check out what the guy says about Cliff too, it's so funny! Poor Cliff and Albel.
Posted by Kryssie at April 24, 2005 01:15 AMHey! Heh, entertaining avatars...I like them. I certainly wouldn't mind using them, but I'm not a paid member, so I still only get three, bleh. However, you know that SO3 story you translated (with the Albel pudding)? I made an avatar of that for the hell of it--and linked to your journal when I mentioned it. You can check it out, if you like. Nothing spectacular, but I love it nonetheless.
Hrm, we seem to have pretty common tastes in...well, most things. I'm on a book kick right now--have you read Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy? I love, love, love it...one of my absolute favorite dark fantasy stories. Seriously, go read them. Now! Or whenever. But preferably now.
As I originally surfed in through your SO3 fanfiction... Again, I loved the chapter. The wait sucked, but don't push yourself too much. And don't be so down on yourself! Self-improvement is all well and good, but don't take it too far. Would it make you feel better if you had someone edit your chapters first (grammar and such, not ideas)...? I sure as hell wouldn't mind. I would like to think I have a rather decent grasp on grammar (fear my proper typing!). :P
...Okay, this comment is getting long. Good luck--in, well, er...everything, I guess?
Posted by Sharon at April 24, 2005 02:03 AMKryssie--
I'm still running around in one of the optional dungeons. I have like 5 million bucks and am creating things like MAD! *laughs* I love the boots of prowess! Heh! They are awesome! Item creation is so much fun! Ha ha! I need to go back and do the S rank games at geminity. I think I'll do that today. *wonders where she put memory card now--crap*
Actually, I didn't want to end on a cliff hanger like that, but I didn't want to go over my word count as I moved on to the next part, so I cut it there. *laughs* I want to keep my count at 4000 words, but I've been hitting almost 5000 per chapter (the later ones)...ugh...As I edit the previous chapters, I hope to cut a lot of that back. I'd like to end the story somewhere near 100,000 words, but I have a feeling I'll be going over.........way over.....
What stunned me was since I can see the number of hits per chapter now...last time I checked, I had 300 hits for this new chapter...O_o Are that many people really reading it? I hope not!!!! *laughs* Now I feel even more worried...*facepalm*
Posted by Zoso at April 24, 2005 10:14 AMSharon--
Ha ha! That avatar is so cute! That's one of my most favorite scenes in that comic! *pat pat* *maggot maggot* Heh! Little Fayt is so cute! Thanks for sharing!
I'd like to get some new brushes and gradiants for Photoshop so I can play with more avatars, but I'm only running PS6--my new computer REFUSES to load my PS7 upgrade. *cries* I'm too poor right now to buy PSCS (or whatever it's called) right now...
I haven't read any of Anne Bishops stuff--oddly enough. What's the Black Jewel Trilogy about? I love dark fantasy and mystery stuff. I just finished "A Stroke of Midnight" by LK Hamilton. I thought it was pretty good, but I hate having to wait for the next book! *laughs* I pre-ordered the first VHD novel last night (see latest post).
Thanks for the offer on the beta! It would be nice to have a couple people to look over the story when I get seriously stuck (like for this chapter), so I might just take you up on that. Perhaps Kryssie wouldn't mind either??? So far, chapter 15 is going okay...I sat down and did some work on it last night and had a ton of ideas all laid out--not once did I want to snap my pencil with my teeth. *laughs* The entire story has been loosely outlined, so I know where I'm going with it (for the most part), but occasionally, when I try to put crap down on paper, it just doesn't want to come out the same as I see it in my head. *laughs*
Thanks again! (^-^)
I haven't done much Item Creation on this playthrough so far... but I'm trying to get top rank in the battle arena so I can win that hardcore trophy. And, with Nel, Albel and Cliff at lv.77, that's not going to be anytime soon. o_o
Heehee, I think you said that about another chapter. I was about to say that I aim for around 11 pages and that my chapters are really long, but looking at the story that's getting the most love from me at the minute (which is quite neglectful, to be honest), some of the chapters are quite a bit more or less than that. To be honest, I think they're about the same length as yours! ^.^ Although one was REALLY long. Christ, I ramble.
Hey... I wouldn't mind if it was longer. =]
Dude, I think the number of hits speaks for the quality of the writing, personally. ^__^ And sure, I'd love to check over your chapters. I used to do Foxmerc's and, if he was still around on ff.net, he'd tell you I'm quite pedantic! (In a good way!) Although, if you e-mail them to me, I'd probably have to introduce you to my usual internet alias, as Kryssie is only my ff.net one (it's not my actual name or anything).
Y'know, one day I will put some stuff up on fp.com. ONE DAY.
Posted by Kryssie at April 24, 2005 10:42 AMHey, thanks for translating the story. :P And I hear you on the being poor part... Then again, even if I did have better software, I doubt I could have colored it any better, heh.
Well, the Black Jewels Trilogy is...wow, where to even start? It takes place in a universe where many people have a natural affinity with magic, and they call themselves "of the Blood." Those that are able wear jewels that represent and embody their level of power, the weakest being White and the strongest Black (later there's an Ebony). Very, very few people can use the Black, but two of them are Daemon and his father, Saetan (High Lord of Hell--but not in the Christian sense). Saetan actually resides in (and rules over) the realm of the dead, while Daemon is a slave to a high queen in the realm of Terreille (a place where powerful witches are the rulers, and often have men rape younger witches so they won't come to power). The other main male character is Lucivar, who is also Saetan's son...and he wears the Ebon-Gray (just below Black). The main female character is Jaenelle, from the realm of Kaeleer (the Shadow Realm--a relatively mundane place)...she is to grow up and become Witch--"deams made flesh." Her job is basically to eventually rid the two realms of the "bad Blood" that are poisoning the worlds.
--And that's me keeping it short. X_x I promise you'll love it, though.
Heheh, Laurel K. Hamilton is another of my favorite authors... I just read "A Stroke of Midnight" less than a month ago. It was good, but I had trouble remembering everything that happened in the other books. It's worse since I always wait for the paperback versions. :\ Same with Harry Potter and the Anita Blake series (...I sincerely agree that Richard can go to hell).
I feel for you... I know what it's like to know exactly what you want to say in general, but then get caught up on the specifics. I would love to help, though. Being able to read the chapters before most other people is a great bonus~. And PLEASE don't worry about the length! I like them long. The concern that I usually have with reading fanfiction is whether or not it's ever going to continue. :\
Posted by Sharon at April 24, 2005 10:11 PMKryssie--
I think I'm in the 100 somewhere--been awhile since I played. I didn't get to it today; got caught up playing with photoshop again. *laughs*
Well, I hope people are reading because they like the story. I got my first "smack" today, which made me laugh (it was good-natured and friendly). I was expecting it. It did make me wonder why I used a "molotov" instead of Nel's magic...Hmmm...I guess I've never been too impressed with Nel's magic spells, and they take so damn long. *shrug* I don't think I'd change it though...I went through the guide book and looked up the biggest, baddest bomb they had--I actually used a lot of bombs during the final fight with Luthor. Plus I like things that blow up... *ha ha*
*shrug* Oh well...I'm going to sit on that chapter for a week or two and then look over it again. If I do it too soon, I'll just get annoyed again.
Yes! Let me know once you get your stuff up on FP.net! I'd love to read your stories!
Ugh...bed time...tomorrow is Monday (the bane of my exisitance)
Posted by Zoso at April 24, 2005 10:51 PMSharon--
Those sound like interesting books! I'll check them out! Thanks! Have you read any of the Tanya Huff books? Or Sharon Kenyon? I love vampire books! *hee*
Another Richard hater! *laughs* I can't stand that guy! He's such a whiner (worse than Sasuke!)--plus Jean Claude is just so funny! Ha ha! I heard LK Hamilton wants to start another series... O_o ... I hope she waits until one of the other ones wraps up! Three series is waaay too much to take on!
I don't expect to have the next chapter of my story ready for a couple weeks. If you read my post to Kryssie, I'm probably going to do a rewrite on that one and I'll probably ask you two to look it over. I feel really bad for that chapter--sort of disappointed in myself...*sigh* Ah well, live and learn!
Okay, time for bed! Take care!
I haven't read that review yet, but in a way, I can see Nel having said bombs. She could keep them over from the Luther experience. ^__^ However, a Lightning Strike would have been cool too. Yeah, Nel's magic isn't the greatest but her Healing is insanely good. (I confess, I had to look up Molotov because I don't use bombs, but I had an idea of what it was... ahehehhe). Yeah, sure, let it lie for a while. It's not hugely impossible for Nel to have bombs, so it works.
Hahaha... fp.com... that's so gonna be in the early summer. Maannn...
Posted by Kryssie at April 25, 2005 12:19 AM*laughs* Well, that makes me feel a bit better. I figured since she's sort of like a shinobi, why not have a couple bombs. Also, I hardly used any magic (except healing) during the game, spells take so long to execute and I'd always get hit. O_o I figured since Avarice broke her wrist, she wouldn't be doing any spells or much hand to hand combat; she had to take him out quick...but I think my pitfall is I rushed through the fight scene, and left things pretty vague. Shame on me...I'll have to fix that, and explain more...
Ah, yes the Molotov. Heh. The molotov R1 does 9000+ damage. It's under item creation. Fun stuff! I used TONS of bombs with Luther. The first time I fought him he kicked my ass, so started the game over and spent a lot of time creating stuff. I pretty much threw everything but the kitchen sink at him the second time. *laughs*
I got three of my research books today! I'm so excited! I ordered books on faeries and dragons so I could do some studying for my orginal story. I didn't expect them so soon! There's at least two more I want to buy as well, but they're expensive (hard covers). I'm going to start reading them and making notes. Yay!
I think I will send you and Sharon the chapters as I finish them. Actually, my email address is listed here, just remove the (no spam) and the mail will go to my default account. I have another account, a main one that I use for friends, so e-mail you back from that one (which is a yahoo account). At anyrate, once I get the next chapter done, I'll give you a looksie and you tell me if it sucks or not. *ha ha* I have to work this Saturday, so I probably won't get it done until next week (depending on what happens through-out the week).
Well, time to go watch CSI! Take care and talk later!
Posted by Zoso at April 25, 2005 07:58 PMCool. Give a mention when you're close to finishing, then I'll e-mail you my address, since this one can't have anything sent to it, aheheheh.
Yeah, good point about the wrist. If she tends to cast spells with her left, that would have made it pretty difficult. I didn't see it as cutting off the fight scene so soon, I thought it was a good ending to it. Fight scenes can be tricky to write, so I would recommend going back over it for the heck of it. Mind you, if such a scene happened in the game, I could see Nel being as reckless as that (as Cliff points out at some stage) and ending up having to pull herself out of a pile of rubble.
Oooh, studying. I don't do a lot of studying for my fics, I have to say, I make it up completely. I need a kind of pseudo-mythology on gods/goddesses for one of my stories... argh. I think I will just make it up and laugh at my imagination. Heh heh.
Urgh... schoolwork calls. Speak soon!
Posted by Kryssie at April 26, 2005 07:54 AMNel always struck me as kind of reckless. She's fairly sensitive and emotional behind that cool facade of hers, especially in the manga (when she's not beating the crap out of Cliff). From what I see, she tends responds to injustices done to those weaker than herself, so in my head, it would make sense someone such as Avarice would easily get her hackles raised. He's a predator of the weak, something Nel loathes. *shrug* As is Romero...but we haven't gotten to him yet.
I was worried about the believability of Nel killing Avarice off (sheesh, I cannot spell for the life of me today...). He's one of the higher demons, so in all respects he should be strong...but then again, Nel is a strong woman, and I don't want to portray her as a "victim" as she gets drawn further into Albel's mess.
Hn...
I got the new Star Ocean manga today. They cut the fight with Albel a little short...okay, a lot short...and they changed it around (only Cliff fights him). I didn't mind too much. Whew, Cliff beat the CRAP out of Albel...O_o As much as I like Albel, he had it coming... *laughs* I love Cliff too. He's such a well rounded, fun character! Once I get some time, I'll post some more scans. (my "to do" list keeps getting bigger and bigger.)
Take care!
Posted by Zoso at April 26, 2005 05:35 PMYAY! Love to see more of Albel in the manga.
Yeah, that's what I like about Nel. That, and her temper. Heh heh heh. Hey, just remember she helped to defeat Luther, so ahehehe. I'm sure Avarice doesn't know Insanity Prelude, so... (godIhatedthatattack) Besides, that's why the bomb was so useful. I think you should definitely keep that part. Yeah, that's good that you don't want to portray her as a victim. I'm always wary that that will happen in an AlbelNel fic, but you're doing an excellent job, so far. Like that reviewer said about Albel turning around the "pretend to be married" cliche. I thought that was pretty sweet.
Oooh, can't wait for Romero. That little child was Romero, wasn't it...? =]
Haha, Cliff rocks. Some of the stuff he said in the game was really well-timed. First time I heard his voice, I thought "oh nooo...." but the acting is so good that you get used to it just like a normal voice. ^_^
I should probably go to registration now. Speak soon!
Posted by Kryssie at April 27, 2005 12:40 AMHa ha! Yeah, it's fun to mess with people while I'm writing. I knew people would think I was going for the "let's pretend we're married" thing. ;) Having Albel turn it around was a hoot. I also figured people would start a war over Kasia being a "Mary Sue". *laughs* To tell the truth, when I first started this fic, I wanted people to dislike her as much as I did (in my head)...I've lightened up a bit, and without giving away too much, I do feel kinda sorry for her.
But I still don't like her much. (is that okay, an author not like her OC? *laughs*)
>>That little child was Romero, wasn't it...? =]
I'm not telling! :p I will say I do enjoy the element of surprise, so be prepared for anything.
I liked the voice acting in SO3 too. I liked Cliff's voice a lot. He sounded like he was from the east side of the US (reminds me of when I visited my one of my best friends in Maine). I didn't like Albel's "evil" laugh. I thought it was really cheesy and cliche...His voice was awesome though. I think everyone was done really well.
Ooh...Insanity Prelude...ugh...I ran around when I saw it coming. I had no strategy. *laughs* OMG! I HATED that Robin Wind guy! He killed me so many times. I got so mad fighting him! *laughs* Bombs work well on him. Ha ha.
Well, time to go back to work! Only a few more hours to go...
(my orginal post got cut off for some reason...sorry 'bout that!)
Posted by Zoso at April 28, 2005 02:16 PMOoooh, I like surprises! And like I said, you're good at making mini-cliffhangers at the end of your chapters. Can't wait!
Oh, don't worry, I hate the two main characters in another of my stories. I like three of the supporting characters more. ^__^ I don't think Kasia's much of a Mary Sue... there's nothing shockingly perfect or great about her... she was just an ordinary quiet woman who happened to marry Albel. XD I quite like the inclusion of Kasia.
Yeah, that laugh was a little OTT. But hey, it's eevil! I hate the Robin Wind guys too... especially since Cliff and Albel have such low MP. Grr.
I'd better go and get ready for school... you're probably still up, knowing time differences! Speak soon.
Posted by Kryssie at April 28, 2005 11:20 PMI was really expecting the cries of "Mary Sue!" all over the place. I've seen perfectly decent stories get attacked for having OC's and there's nothing "Suey" about them. *laughs* I played Kasia down a lot in the first edit too...then I went back and changed some more. I can't see Albel marrying an ugly woman *laughs*, so in my head she's pretty, but nothing spectacular or unusual. She's just a woman...one that pisses me off. *laughs*
Ooooh...the horror of low MP! I had a heck of a time in the lava caves too. Well, the first time I played I did, my third time though I went through and cleared each section several times. *laughs* Revenge for my first game! Ha ha!
Anyway, I'm going to work on the next chapter tomorrow after I get home from work. Ugh...I hate working on Saturdays...but it's only for a few hours. My vaction is coming up in a few weeks, so that'll be nice! Yay! A week off!
Okie dokie! Time for bed! Take care!
Posted by Zoso at April 30, 2005 12:42 AMHello again, Zoso-san! I liked the SO3 icons a lot, and also, the Naruto icons as well! I was wondering if I could use some of the Cliff icons. You see, I'm going to be Cliff in an RPG in Livejournal, so... I'm just wondering that if you don't mind if I use one... or two...
Anyway, looking back on these posts, I suggest you read Black Jewels Trilogy. It is such a dark, vivid and wonderful story that has a great sense of humor added into it too.
And what's going to happen to Nel, now that her arm is broken by Avarice? Grr... Now I can picture Nel to be adamant about still doing hard tasks even with her arm broken, while pissing Albel off because he's... well... 'taking care of her.'
Which, in short, I can see a squabble happen between them about what she can do and not, since we all know Nel doesn't like to be seen as some sort of burden.
Umm... Ahem. Excuse me for the rabble there, couldn't help myself. ^^;
Posted by xKuroSeraphimx at May 12, 2005 08:37 PMHowdy! You most certainly can use the icons! Take as many as you want! There's a bunch more loaded at the other site as well--(no new SO3, but a lot of Naruto ones). :) All I ask of people is that they don't claim that they've made them and no direct linking from this page (I don't really care about the photobucket site, though I'd prefer if people right clicked and saved the icons to their computer). ***just a forewarning too: I'm not a big fan of Sasuke, so my icons about him are less than friendly ;) ***
Anyway...
Chapter 15 is partially written, I worked on it a bit last night, and plan on doing some more this weekend. I'm not sure when the chapter will be ready though! ;p Albel and Nel fight a lot. ha ha! That's what makes them so much fun!
Ugh! Time to go to work...at least it's Friday...( i hope they don't make me work again this weekend...)
Take care! :)
Posted by Zoso at May 13, 2005 07:03 AMOh. Well, I'm not much of a Sasuke fan myself. I'm more of a... NarutoxSakura and ItachixSakura fan. O__O Ah, crap, why did I say that? But anyway, yeah, Sasuke should just die. I particularly laugh at anything that says: "I'm an ass, live with it!"
Oooh... I hope that you get chapter 15 up soon! It's such a good AlbelNel fic, I wish it'd happen in the manga afterwards! And yeah, Albel and Nel fighting each other is cool. Makes them more compatible in my sense.
... Though, Nel seriously kicks my ass when I'm Albel in the Paraclesus' Table. -__- Yayy, for girl power!
Posted by xKuroSeraphimx at May 13, 2005 06:13 PMI used to be a Sasuke fan--but then he turned all stupid on everyone. I loathe him now. I'm an Itachi fan for some reason. I like Oro too. *laughs* I think Shikamaru and Kiba are two of my favorites, as well as Naruto himself. I also like Kankuro.
Once I get some more images of Cliff, I'll make some more icons. Good luck with the RPG!
