Thanks for the summaries. I guess you Naruto was licensed by Shopro. I am just starting to collect the manga. I had problems with Bleach. So I traded the manga for something else. However, I prefer the anime. More movement. using Orange Range for the Op was perfect. Their sound is funky. Have you seen any of their videos? Oh, you get all the stuff I like. I am going to keep watching your blog/reviews. Are you going to continue Wallflower? Refreshing isn't it. I haven't read past vol. 3 of Angel Sanctuary. Something like that, you have to have a clear mind to read. Honestly, it's very pessimistic. I still like it. So many angels. I just fell in love with Peacemaker Kurogane. I'm a bit of a Japanophile, so anything related to Japanese history... fine with me. Now why do you think Asian people are so short. I wonder about that theory of it being cold climit so they adapted and just didn't grow. You hear about that leg/bone streatching in China? (shiver). What a risk.
Posted by Muri at March 6, 2005 05:32 AMHi! No prob. I'm going to try to do summaries each weekend (if I remember), though I was ambitious with the screen caps. *laughs* Yeah, Naruto was licensed, which made me and my son happy. I'm looking forward to having DVD's to watch instead of subs and raws on my computer.
Bleach starts off really slow, it won't pick up until the the seventh book or so, but that's when things get really interesting. Honestly, between Naruto and Bleach (I love them both), Bleach has the better story in the end (IMO), but Naruto has more emotion.
I love the art in Angel Sanctuary. That's what intially drove me to read the series. Yeah, it's pretty pessimistic, but I enjoy the twist it puts on right and wrong. It's one of the few manga I've read that has made me cry (Katou Yue's story is just so terribly realisitc and horrible).
Ha ha! Wallflower is awesome. I don't think I did a summary for volume 2. I didn't think it was as good and #1, but I'll still keep reading. I heard there's like 10 volumes or something? I didn't think this series would go on for so long. Have you tried Othello? That's another good one too. Gravitation is probably the most halarious series I've read to date, if you like nutty humor.
I've never seen any video's by Orange Range. I've been meaning to add the music to my iTunes playlist for awhile now, but haven't gotten around to it.
Hmmm, I've never really thought much about Asian people being shorter. My brother in law is Chinese (he came to the US when he was 5). He's about 5'10 and his sister is nearly as tall as he is (she's only 15!!!). He says people in China are actually diversified when it comes to hieght. I have heard that people in Japan are getting taller, and it might have something to do with their diet changing over the past years. *shrug* You should check out "Japan Times" if your interested in news and stuff. There's a link in my blog!
ムリさんは日本語を話しますか? Just curious, it would be cool to have someone to practice with! (^-^)
Take care!
Posted by Zoso at March 6, 2005 08:23 AMI'm not that good with the language. Been out of practice for some time. I try. I know the first half is Muri-chan wa Nihon blah, blah wo blah, blah, simasu ka. Off the top of my head, is this a question on if I can speak Japanese? I don't know much Kanji but I have a program that may help me figure it out . I know very well about Japan times and actually have been doing a lot of study on Japanese culture. At least trying. Let's see(the third kanji means language and the forth is to speak or chat. Ah,etoo, Nihon wo syoosyoo hanashitte desu.
Posted by Muri at March 7, 2005 10:02 PMyeah, I asked if you spoke Japanese. I'm not that great with Kanji either. I need a dictionary to cross check stuff and furigana helps when I read. I've been studying on and off for about two years. I can read manga most of the time, but it'll take me awhile. *laughs* Japan is interesting, I'm obsessed with history, culture and language.
Posted by Zoso at March 8, 2005 10:14 AMWakarimasita. My biggest problem is getting the grammatical structure toegether. Something that was a stumbling block me with my former instructors. i give it too them. You have to convert at least three times at comp speed. I apparently can't chew gum and tie my shoes at the same time, soo desu. It's almost like looking in the mirror (laugh). (Deviating from topic)You know, if you like beautiful lines like I do then, take a look at the manwhas Le Bijoux and Tarot Cafe, both by the same artist Sang-Sun Park. I thought I was flabbergasted with Clamp's Rg Veda and enchanted by Yoshitaka Amano's works. What is interesting about all of the people mentioned is that the stories surrounding them were well done. Model, another manwha that has an etheral beauty in it's art that compliments the storyline. If you don't mine my opinion when I first saw Hoyka( made me think of your son for some reason), I thought fair, blonde with silver eyes. And Abraxas appeared with red hair, brown eyes. And then the one in the chair, Sahjarah had black hair, cobalt blue eyes but thats my visual imagination.
Posted by Muri at March 9, 2005 06:53 PMHowdy! Sorry it took so long to get back! I've been so busy!
Thanks for the input, it's always nice to have other people's feed back. I'm horrible at coloring my art work. I don't know why, but I find it very, very difficult. I am practicing with photoshop, but I despise doing hair with that program. *laughs*
Le Bijoux? I've seen it at the store but never looked at it. Is the story good? I've seen Model too, but haven't picked it up. I loved the art work in Demon Dairy. It was really beautiful! My favorite art works have got to be Angel Sanctuary, Yami no Matsuei, and Blade of the Immortal. I've never cared for Clamp, for some reason. I don't know why. The art is pretty, but I've never gotten into any of their stories.
