Hi! I stumbled here on accident and I think your sketches are great. Do you have more, say on Deviant Art?
Just curious,
hyanan
Thanks! :-)
Yeah, I do actually. Nothing spectacular though, since drawing is more for fun and I don't do it often. Some of those people over at DA are amazing! I'm so jealous!
Posted by Zoso at March 3, 2005 10:30 AMThis is pretty special. You mention taking art classes, was this something you intended or was it for kicks? You have talent. I have done a few sketches and was told they were pretty good but I don't think I have any talent. This picture has soul. Please do more... I hope the best for you and your son. I can tell by your comments that you love him very much and are very insightful.. I have a son also.
Posted by Muriel at March 6, 2005 04:45 AMI took some a few years ago, mainly for kicks. I would have liked to continue though, I really learned some cool stuff and it helped my almost non-existant confidence. I found out that though I like to draw, I really enjoy design more. We had to do a project which entailed making things from junk...I've been hooked ever since. I drag home all sorts of junk and make sculpture out of it. I would like to continue classes just so I can learn more though...but we are still battling the after effects of hearing troubles and soon will be paying for braces. UGH!
Thanks for the comments though! It makes me happy when someone can find something nice in work I often find crappy. *laughs* ;-)
Posted by Zoso at March 6, 2005 08:34 AMI am doing braces with mine now. 13 is the perfect age to start, orthodontist say. Needless to say when they decided to use an expander instead of taking teeth out, I was adamnit or just dammit. It cost extra. Then I had a fit when I tried to use this special pic to turn the key inside the expander. I think around the 3rd month, I finally got it. Other than that, to cut corners I went on a discount dental plan to hash out the cost. It did ultimately come out cheaper but did not stick to the fee plan which is half of what I am paying now. That drawing is hot and I learned that you are doing a story for it. I couldn't make this comment there but I think the bricks remind me of stones. It might have made a better impression since you got cattails or tall grass in the background. I assummed the tree was partially responsible for the detioration of the brick and Hoyka rencently broken down more of the wall. He looks like he is leaving someone's property. When and if you ever finish this graphic novel. I want to buy it. I like the way you think. Do you know the Asian dragon lore?
Posted by Muriel at March 7, 2005 09:36 PMThanks, yeah, I should add some more cattails and stuff to give it better perspective. Overall, it's okay, but it could improve. I am happy with the way Hoyka turned out. I'm in the story stage of my novel, I haven't decided if I want to do a full blown graphic novel of it or not. I have a hard time with buildings and such, (as you can see with the bricks) *laughs*, so that's a hinderence.
I don't know much about Asian dragons. I haven't really researched them much yet. Abrasax, Azhidahaki, Kungpipi, and a few others are in the story. Demons and angels as well, but I have yet to hash out their designs. Do you have any links to Asian dragons? I'd like to see them if you!
:-)
My son goes in for his first apt with the orthodontist this week. They're just going to take a look at stuff and see how things are growing. The doctor isn't ready to put braces on yet. I'll probably have his dad pick up most the bill. He doesn't pay child support, so he's cool with paying any medical expenses (most of the time). I never ceases to amaze me how outrageously expensive doctors and hospitals are. Its abusurd!
Posted by Zoso at March 8, 2005 11:05 AMSumimasen. Age 12 is the best. I got my son's, Paul is name, birthday coming up within a week, on my mind. Well I have some books on it and it may be best to email my notes directly. I have some other ideas too, if you are interested. I will do some additional reserch on the web to see what that yields.
